Okay, okay, okay, I know! How do I give something two stars, but not finish it? Well ... it's a good question lol. The reality is that the book was good. The further reality is, it just wasn't good for me.

Welcome to Bar Harbor Retirement home, where retired authors come to live their final days amongst an unusual assortment of nurses, doctors, and assistants. A place where no one seems to be truly happy, but merely existing.

That last bit is why I don't read fiction set in modern day. I just don't want to read about the doldrums of life. That's why I read, to escape that. This book just didn't feel like much of an escape for me.

However, that being said, this book is really well written. The characters well developed and they are growing through the story. This is all really good. I just don't feel compelled to read about regular life.

I'm trying to break out of my limited genre scope in 2019 and this was my first challenge. I failed miserably. HOWEVER, just because I didn't enjoy it, doesn't mean it isn't a great book and lots of other people wouldn't enjoy it. I'll just leave my copy for them ... someone will pick it up ... it has a great cover :D
