Book Review: Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

Shiver
Maggie Stiefvater

September 9th

Okay, so I'm 36% of the way through the book (thanks GoodReads) and it all feels so predictable. Grace and Sam, their pull to each other is magnetic and I'm dying to know why Grace isn't a werewolf, but it feels like a cliche.

The story is told from two different sides, in somewhat alternating chapters, from Grace and Sam's points of view. Even though the stories are told in the "I" voice, the characters feel a little shallow - but I'm only 36% through, so it is a little early to decide.

Aside from all my English major judginess - the story is intriguing and I'm enjoying it. Not every story has to have the character development of Hamlet and the depth of Paradise Lost, books can be enjoyable without being amazing works of literature.
