Book Review: Throne of Glass

Tweet Synopsis: Celaena isn't just a pretty face. She isn't just strong willed. You should watch your back. #freedom #survival #murder

Why Did I Pick It Up: Good Reads recommended it ... it was available on OverDrive.

Favorite Character: Celaena ... but Chaol is so tender hearted it is hard to not make him my favorite

Genre: Fantasy but romance-y

Suggested Age Range: 8th and up

Romance: Yes

The Good: Celaena is the kind of character you fall in love with, flaws and all. She is the person you're rooting for even when she is screwing everything up. She is the one that you justify the actions of because she is so real, so human ... well, maybe she is just a lot like me. Celaena isn't out to make friends, nope she is out to save herself. She is brash, crass, and she doesn't watch herself. She gets into trouble and although two men are continually helping her out (the Crown Prince and the Captain of the Guard - both delicious in their own right) she refuses to believe she can't do it on her own. She is all she has and she is going to win. Her dedication and determination are unmatched. She is brave and flawed. She is the best character I've read this year.

The Bad: When you love a book, saying what's wrong with it is hard. I hated Celaena/Dorian. Dorian is too Prince like. Okay, yes, he is the Prince, but I don't like him. He is a little too smooth, a little too flawless, I feel like his snake head is going to pop up at any second. However, this could also go under "The Good" category because it is what makes a good book.

The Ugly: I've got nothing, that makes me a bad reviewer. But what can I say.

Who will love this book? Everyone, everyone must read the book ... but especially if you like Fantasy

How much did I like it?  9.75/10

Will I read more? Yes, book review for book 2 coming soon.

Bingo 2015: none
